Mach Nexus: An Off-Road Communication Powerhouse Enhances Safety and Productivity

Chicago, IL - August 6, 2024

Automating fleets and operations increases efficiency, resulting in less turnover for employers, and ensures safer conditions for workers in dangerous occupations such as construction, manufacturing, and agriculture. Mach, a leader in autonomous technology, has launched the next version of Mach Nexus, a first-of-its-kind telematics solution to expand machine-to-machine (M2M) communication in off-road construction and industrial machines.

Integrating Multiple Lines of Communication

Mach Nexus stands out from other telematic devices by employing a multi-channel communication approach to enhance safety and performance in machinery. The Nexus’ rugged design integrates WiFi and an LTE gateway with a powerful processor into a single product. Additionally, it incorporates a 900mHz radio protocol for M2M mesh communication and a powerful Dual Core 650 MHz ARM Cortex A7 microprocessor. Nexus is also capable of running task automation software to enable Smart Implements or can serve as a task-specific electronic control unit (ECU).

“There is no other device on the market that integrates WiFi, LTE, and 900mHz. Mach Nexus is the only option for expanding in-field communications with all three mediums while running basic automation tasks,” explains Colin Hurd, CEO of Mach.

An Abundance of Benefits

Mach Nexus will increase labor and safety efficiencies in several industries such as agriculture, defense and construction. This device comes in a single, rugged design natively equipped with Mach Ops cloud-based technology. This allows for over-the-air (OTA) updates, security, fleet logistics, diagnostics and asset tracking.

Those features allow Mach Nexus, when combined with a backend cloud service like Mach Ops, to provide a comprehensive suite of communication functionalities including:

  • A vehicle hotspot

  • Cloud communications

  • M2M Communications

  • Mesh networking

  • Field data communication and data synchronization

  • ISOBus based implement control

  • Vehicle or asset tracking

  • Fleet management

  • Scheduled and predictive maintenance

  • Route safety and collision avoidance

  • Data backup, security and synchronization

  • Improved operational safety

  • Automated implement/payload command and control

  • Remote command and control

  • Remote alerts and operational status

  • OTA software/firmware updates

This product can also operate in temperatures ranging from 40 degrees below zero to 167 degrees Fahrenheit. Mach Nexus is compatible with machinery such as tractors, ISOBus implements, loaders, skid steers, and more.

Hurd notes, “Most of the hardware we develop is because we cannot find an off-the-shelf solution that meets the unique requirements of off-road autonomy. Nexus was created to solve those challenges related to communication systems and provide a comprehensive and safe platform for redundant reliable vehicle communications.”

Mach offers technological solutions to empower Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) in perception, navigation, route planning, monitoring, and connectivity.
